Ok, so here’s the deal. It’s easy for you and I to whip up a tasty treat or grab a fresh melt-in-your-mouth Krispy Kreme donut. But what about your pupster?
I always feel a slight tinge of guilt when I’m devouring something that I know I can’t share.
You can grab anything from cookies to customized birthday cakes from these “barkeries”.
Plus, you can feel less judged eating that whole batch of cookies when you’re supposed to be eating healthy if you’ve got a partner in crime. Sounds like a win-win, right?
If you’re a paw-rent living in the Atlanta area, you absolutely must check out these doggie bakeries. Be warned, however, you’ll definitely be feeling some of Fido’s frustration wishing these delectables were for you.
Dog City Bakery
It all started with owner Marcia Lain and her Boston Terrier, Molly. Frustrated with the high prices and low quality ingredients in most commercially-marketed dog treats, Marcia decided to take matters into her own hands.
Molly was her biggest fan of course, and when her friends caught wind of her newest hobby, Marcia quickly found herself cast as the Willy Wonka of the dog world.
Eventually Marcia decided to open up a storefront for her canine confections, and Dog City Bakery was born.
Dog City has everything you can imagine for your pupster from treats and holistic dog and cat food, to boutique items such as animal toys and apparel.
Some of their specialty snacks honestly sound like something I’d want to order for myself—like honey bears and applesauce bites.
Dog City currently has two locations near Atlanta, Georgia. One in Marietta and the other in Sandy Springs. They even offer online shopping for those of us who aren’t near either of these.
Make sure you check out their treat of the month service so you can get a new specialty treat delivered on the regular! I hear the Snicker Poodles are pretty amazing!
Terra Dog Bakery
Terra Dog Bakery takes their treat game to a whole other level. Not only are their products organic, preservative free and free of gluten, soy and wheat, they are also breed specific.
Yep, you read that right.
Since every breed has its own unique health risks and dietary needs, Terra Bakery’s treats cater (pun intended) to these needs individually with ingredients chosen to combat that particular breed’s potential issues.
They have a line of treats for Rottweilers to Chihuahuas and everything in between.
These aren’t just your typical dog biscuits either, they even make jerky!
Terra Dog Bakery is located in Norcross, Georgia but has online shopping available as well.
Brixtix Dog Bakery
Located in Hampton, Georgia, is Brixtix Dog Bakery.
Their customizeable dog cookies are almost too cute to eat. Almost.
You’ll also want to make sure you don’t leave these lying around unsuspecting guests, as they are easily mistakable for festive sugar cookies. Then again…just make sure you get it on video!
Brixtix Bakery’s most popular treat seems to be the personalized cookies. And for good reason. You can actually get a cookie with the likeness of your pupster on it! How cute is that!
And if your pooch eating his own face is a little too weird for you, they can also do just about anything including names, sports teams, emojis, holiday themes, and pretty much everything else you could dream up.
You can check out their storefront or you can even sign up on their etsy store for a monthly treat box with surprise goodies delivered to your door.
Pet Pleasers has a little something for almost every kind of pet parent including dogs, cats, and even horses!
Their treats are made fresh daily and contain no artificial colors, preservatives, or any of the other harmful chemicals included in most commercial brands.
Their specialties include brownie bites (not made out of real chocolate of course), muffins, and something called the “bonewich” that sounds good enough that I’d be tempted to steal a bite out of it.
The good news is that all of their products are made with FDA approved human grade ingredients, so in a pinch I could totally eat one (don’t judge, my sweet tooth has a mind of its own)!
The Bonewich for example, is a bone shaped peanut butter cookie filled with your choice of yogurt, peanut butter, or a chocolate substitute. Don’t pretend for a minute like you wouldn’t consider taking a tiny nibble.
Pet Pleasers is located in Gainesville, Georgia, but has an online store. They also have wholesale pricing available if you’d like to carry their products.
Featured in Atlanta Magazine, Atlanta’s Finest Dining, and even Southern Living, Taj Ma-Hound has certainly made a name for themselves.
It isn’t hard to see why either. Their treats are restaurant quality containing only the best natural ingredients.
They’re also totes adorbs with names like Yappy Barkday Cake, Pea Mutt Butter, Poochie Pawstry, and Grrranola.
Taj Ma-Hound is located in Decatur, Georgia. Their website has gift certificates, birthday party specialty boxes, and wholesale pricing. According to Krista at Taj Ma-Hound, she says that their most “PUP”ular item is their cannoli. She says:
They look better than most people cannolis. We make the shell first out of our PeaMutt Butter dough recipe then dip them in carob, fill them with real peanut butter and drizzle with more carob and sprinkle with nuts. When people see them the usually say, “They look good enough for me to eat!” To that we say “They are!” but save them for the dogs!
Thanks to Taj Ma-Hound’s awesome Instagram, you can see a picture of this beauty below!
Ok, so technically this isn’t a “doggie bakery”. However, it simply had to be mentioned.
Those of you familiar with the infamous Sprinkles Cupcakes will understand just how phenomenal their desserts are.
What’s even better is that neither you or your furry friend have to be left out because Sprinkles also makes a special cupcake just for your pooch!
Sprinkles is located in Atlanta, Georgia, but also has several other locations across the country. Unfortunately, however, you can’t order online unless you live in an area near a storefront location.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to grab a snack.
