The Best Guinea Pig Cages On the Market Today!

Black and White Guinea Pig

So you’ve decided on a pet Guinea Pig, but now you are left with the task of finding a suitable cage to keep these little critters happy and healthy. There are many different types of cages and housing options on the market today, but not all of them take into account the welfare of these beloved Piggies.

For example, it is not recommended to house a Cavy on a wire-bottomed habitat as this can cause injury to your pet nor should you every place a Guinea Pig in a home made of enclosed glass or plexi-glass as these do not offer enough ventilation for this type of animal (Cavies tend to overheat very quickly).

So what should you do?

Forget about those flimsy and too small cages found in most pet retailers when the C&C cage offers the room your Guinea Pigs crave and the ease-of-building and maintenance that you as a Piggie parent will love.

All C&C Cages

Before we get into the particulars of each cage style, let’s discuss the differences the C&C cage offers.

First of all, the C&C stands for Cubes and Coroplast which sums up what these cages are basically designed with; the wire grids set up the walls and the Coroplast—similar to corrugated cardboard, except it’s made with a safe, light-weith, yet tough plastic—is used for the bottom and semi-walls.

The C&C cage comes flat and does require you to assemble it, but don’t worry, it is quite simple!  This YouTube Video demonstrates how easy the C&C is to build:

The standard C&C cage is a single level, rectangular-shaped cage that comes in a variety of sizes:

  • Small: 2 x 3 Grids – 30 inches by 44 inches assembled
  • Medium: 2 x 3.5 Grids – 30 inches by 54 inches assembled
  • Large: 2 x 4 Grids – 30 inches by 60 inches assembled
  • XLarge: 2 x 5 Grids – 30 inches by 76 inches assembled
  • Jumbo:  2 x 6 Grids – 30 inches by 90 inches assembled

Standard Covered Cages

These cage kits come in the same sizes as listed above, except included is a sturdy cover made from the wire grids and the use of C&C’s exclusive, custom-made rods and support bars, which add strength and ease of use when covering longer spans.

The use of covers on your Guinea Pig cage is to ensure the safety of your Piggie if you have small children or other pets in the home.

Note: Cavies do not climb, so without other pets or small children, the cage can remain open at the top.

C&C cages has taken the innovation to the “next Level”—literally!

These Deluxe cages provide your piggies with either a narrow loft level (1 grid by 2 grid open top) or a wide loft level (2 grid by 2 grid open top) depending on which you choose.

These are perfect for a feeding “kitchen,” a sleeping area away from the main floor of the cage, extra space or just a nice respite for one Guinea Pig to have some “me” time.

The ramps leading to the loft are also specially made for the C&C cage with a reinforced wire framing that you then cover with Coroplast and carpet for gripping.

These cage kits come in the same dimensions but with a sturdy wire top covering to keep your piggies safe from the other family pets or small children.

Unlike those other cages on the market that provide no extras, the C&C cage can be loaded with plenty of fun and practical accessories so you can add to your cage or change up it’s design anytime you want.

Cage Stands and Cubbies

By building a stand made from the same grids as the cage requires, you can place your piggies up off the ground by 14 inches. This is the perfect height to keep away drafts and elevate the cage for easy access.

In addition, cubby-bins can be used underneath the cage for extra storage of your pet’s supplies and will also look great in any color you choose!

Hearty Acres Ranch Accessories

These feeding bins not only look adorable, but they offer a clean and effective way for your piggie to chow down.

  • Hearty Hay Barn Coral: a perfect place to keep your pigs hay clean and in one spot (shown in picture).
  • Hearty Hay Buffet and Coral: offers three heart-shaped eating holes for your piggie or piggies to eat from
  • Hearty Acres Coral: is the simple tray that can be attached to the Buffet and Barn

  • Piggy Party Patio: 1.5 x 2 grid size, Coroplast available in Castle or Free Wave design for added fun!
  • Piggy Patio: slightly smaller with 1 x 2 grid size and Coroplast also available in Castle or Free Wave design.

The addition of a separate feeding area or kitchen for your pigs is a nice way to keep the food organized, without it being scattered around the cage living area.  Here are the two styles that can be added to the C&C cage;

  • Cavy Cafe – 26″ x 13.5″ Coroplast insert for a “kitchen” area
  • Cavy Bistro – 26″ x 20.5″ Coroplast insert for a “kitchen” area.

Note: these kitchen inserts will NOT fit into a loft attachment!

Cage Dividers

Although these pets do like to be kept with other Guinea Pigs, sometimes you may get one that is a little less sociable. For this reason, the C&C cage does have a Wall of Silence cage divider. This solid plastic divider simply slides down to break the cage into two separate sections.

It is also perfect for blocking the view (and some of the scent) from the male guinea pig of a female that is going into heat.

Pig-a-Boo Window and Pigture Window

Comes in clear or black and is ideal for baby-proofing and chew-proofing your Guinea Pigs cage.  In addition, it’s a nice way to keep your piggies safe, without adding a definite divider.

This YouTube video shows just how awesome you can make these C&C habitats for your beloved piggies:

Don’t waste your time, money or your Guinea Pigs’ health and well being with one of those small cages when the C&C cages are a piggies paradise.  Watching your little pets run, play and enjoy their life is sure to bring a smile to your face each and every day.
